So you are going to Montreal for the weekend? Great choice! Montreal is located in Quebec, Canada. The dominant language is French; however, most people also speak English. When you visit the old town, you’ll definitely feel like you’re in a European city, which is what makes Montreal so magical. This blog post will give you a list of things you must do when visiting for a weekend or a few days’ time. It’s important to note that we went in the Summer. Many of these activities can be done in the Winter; however, your way of getting around may differ from our experience.
Dishes You Must Eat
When you visit Montreal, you must get a bagel for breakfast. New York City is known for their bagels; however, just over 370 miles away in Montreal you’ll find some of the best bagels we’ve ever had! We recommend that you ask the diner for their recommendation on which bagel to order. Harry and I each got a different bagel and shared it. It was a delicious way to start our day.
You also must get poutine. You can get many different types of poutine, but traditionally it is just french fries served with cheese curds and gravy. This is a great snack, small lunch, or appetizer to split while you’re in Montreal. Poutine originated in Montreal, so there’s no way you can skip out on this iconic dish.
Visit Mount Royal Park
Mount Royal is a peak that rises up in the center of the city. If you think the name sounds awfully like Montreal then you’re correct. This mountain is Montreal’s namesake! This park is family-friendly and not too difficult to navigate. Once you’re at the top, you can enjoy some food or drink while you admire the beautiful views.
La Grande Roue de Montreal
If you’re in the old port you’ll see the most beautiful ferris wheel called La Grande Roue de Montreal. You can book tickets here. You’ll be able to experience amazing views 60 meters high, year-round from this attraction.
Visit Old Port
Speaking of the Old Port, this is the most famous part of the city. You’ll feel like you’re walking through a European town which feels much different from big, North American cities. The port has much to see, like La Grande Roue, boat tours, The Clock Tower, The Clock Tower Beach, and more! You can easily spend a full day in this part of town, and we recommend that you do.
Watch Cirque du Soleil
We didn’t realize until we arrived in Montreal that Cirque du Soleil originated in Quebec. Once we learned that information we decided to go to a show. They happened to be having one in the Old Port. The tickets were inexpensive and we thoroughly enjoyed the performance. The performance was done in French, but that didn’t stop us from following along and enjoying the show.
Visit Crescent Street
Crescent Street is located in the heart of downtown Montreal. It is bustling with amazing restaurants, shops, and bars. We enjoyed dinner and drinks here. The vibe was so vibrant and fun, especially at night! We saw many bachelorette parties and birthday parties, so if you’re with a group you’re sure to have fun.
Overall we absolutely enjoyed ourselves in Montreal for the weekend! For more travel tips, check out more of the blog, follow us on Instagram & Facebook, and follow our Pinterest pins.

KAYSWELL
I do agree with all of the ideas you have presented in your post. They are really convincing and will definitely work. Still, the posts are too short for beginners. Could you please extend them a bit from next time? Thanks for the post.
Hairstyles
I would love to add if you do not already have an insurance policy or maybe you do not form part of any group insurance, you might well reap the benefits of seeking the help of a health insurance agent. Self-employed or individuals with medical conditions generally seek the help of the health insurance brokerage service. Thanks for your blog post.
