Oftentimes we get so busy packing for a trip that our toiletry bag is the last thing we think about! Let this guide be a way to help you remember everything you need to bring along for vacation. Remember your toiletry bag should only house liquids, lotions, and aerosols. Everything else can be stored somewhere else in your luggage until you arrive at your destination. This is to make things move smoothly through security.

Toiletry Bag

The first thing you need is a toiletry bag! These are TSA approved & come in a variety of colors. You can use it not only for your toiletries, but your makeup as well. Since they come in a pack of 5, they make great gifts for your traveling buddies, too! They do not handle being stretched to their limits too many times, though, so be gentle with them.

Shampoo and Conditioner

I don’t know about you, but I hate hotel shampoo. This shampoo and conditioner is usually my go-to on vacations. You need to ensure that all of the items you put in your toiletry bag are TSA approved. If you prefer to use your own shampoo from home then you can buy these refillable containers and place the products you love inside. Harry uses these containers to bring some of his prescription lotion on trips.

Face Wash/Cleanser

I have very acne-prone skin, so I never skimp out on bringing along good facial cleanser. This Cetaphil face wash is perfect because it is gentle, but gets the job done of cleaning my face. I even use this on long-haul flights. If you want to see my skincare routine for long-haul flights, check out this Instagram reel I made.

Dry Shampoo

Traveling can make your hair feel drab, and some drier climates can make your hair dry! In these cases you want to limit hair washes, so I always opt to bring along dry shampoo. This is a great thing to add to your hair on long-haul flights, too.

Toothpaste

Nothing is worse than forgetting your toothpaste and toothbrush! This is probably one of the more common things to leave behind because we’re so used to brushing our teeth and leaving our toothbrush at home. I recommend buying the travel set because you can pack it and not have to worry about forgetting the ones you use at home. If my toiletry bag is getting full, I store my toothbrush in a different part of my carry-on luggage because I like to limit my toiletry bag to liquids, lotions, and aerosols.

Deodorant

This is a no brainer. I apply deodorant multiple times on travel days to stay freshened up. Plus no one wants to sit next to a stinky passenger. You probably don’t have to place your deodorant in your toiletry bag, but I like to put mine in there.

Body Wash

Body wash is another item that I don’t like to skimp out on. I know most hotels and Airbnbs have body wash, but I like to bring my own. I take cleanliness really seriously, and it helps me relax to feel fresh. I find that sometimes the bar soaps in hotels just make my skin feel dry or sticky.

Contact Solution

For all of my readers who are like me and cannot function without some form of prescription eyewear, you do not want to leave your contact solution behind! Grab a TSA approved container for your journey to ensure that you have the means to see well on your vacation.

Moisturizer

Remember when I said that dry climates can dry out your hair? Imagine what it does to your face! Moisturizer is so important for fresh, plump skin. I also use this on long-haul airplane flights because the air in the plane tends to dry my skin out, too.

Sunscreen

It doesn’t really matter what the climate or weather is like on your trip when it comes to sunscreen. I always recommend wearing it because UV rays can break through clouds, too. This sunscreen is gentle on your skin and easy to pack in your bag. You will find on vacation destinations that sunscreen is typically overpriced.

Febreeze

Ok this one is a must if you’re like me and tend to pack only in a carry-on. It also comes in handy if you wear a shirt only for a few hours before changing, but you want to re-wear it later. Simply spray some Febreeze on your clothes and hang them up. Voila! Nice and fresh clothing.
