Let me first begin this post by saying that if Vietnam is not high on your bucket list locations, you should add it. Not only does the United States dollar go far there, the people, the food, and the overall “vibe” is incredible! We visited Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon while we were there. You may be wondering why I keep listing both names for the same city, and it’s because the city is officially Ho Chi Minh; however, it did not get this name until after the Vietnam-American war. Before that it was Saigon. In today’s time both names are accepted by the Vietnamese people. Now let me tell you where you should stay in this incredible city & why you should book this lodging!

The Vinpearl Luxury Landmark 81 is the most beautiful hotel! It is a short taxi ride away from the airport & close to the city center. Taxis are very easy to hail in Vietnam and were our preferred method of transport while here. The service at the hotel is unprecedented and we all agreed that it was the best hotel at which we’ve ever had the privilege of staying. It is also located near a beautiful park. We recommend that you book through booking.com because it will save you money.

Incredible Views

The Vinpearl Luxury Landmark 81 Hotel has incredible views from the rooms, the restaurants, the gym, and the infinity pool. Harry and I were lucky enough to get a room on a corner, so two walls were floor to ceiling windows. We loved to wake up early (well the jetlag forced us to wake up early) and watch the sun rise across the city. You can look below to enjoy the beautiful buildings, ample green space, and watch the river flow. If you visit during monsoon season like we did, you can even watch the monsoons roll in from a distance which is pretty cool!

Great Amenities

The Vinpearl Luxury Landmark 81 Hotel has great amenities, too. For starters, in the room you will find a mini fridge with snacks, beer, and wine for purchase. There is also ample amounts of bottled water, constantly refilled, which is fabulous considering how hot the temperature is in Vietnam. The room also boasts a large walk-in shower & a beautiful bathtub with bath salts from the spa. Take a bath & cozy up with the hotel robes as your body clock adjusts to the new time zone.

The hotel also has a fantastic gym that has all of the equipment you need for a great workout. We recommend working out to get your muscles moving after a long flight & to help wake you up as you’re adjusting to the new time zone (you’ll find time zone challenges are a theme throughout our travels to Asia). You will find free weights, weight machines, cardio machines, yoga mats, and resistant bands here, so you are sure to meet your workout needs.

Next to the gym you will find the infinity pool with a bar. The water is very chilly and refreshing compared to the heat and humidity that surrounds you. The pool is stocked with lounge chairs & great, fluffy towels! Maybe it’s just us, but don’t you think an infinity pool just livens up your hotel experience a bit more?

On the same floor as the gym and pool, you will find a relaxing and beautiful spa. Take a visit here to see what services they offer. They won’t just give you a spa menu, but they will provide you with a tour of the spa and a detailed explanation of the services they offer. The customer-care at the Vinpearl Luxury Landmark 81 is unparalleled.

Great (and Free) Breakfast

The breakfast at the hotel is AMAZING! It’s a buffet style breakfast that extends throughout the room. It also has food made to order, such as eggs benedict and banh mi, & servers to help accommodate your needs. There is traditional Vietnamese food available as well as western options. My stomach had a hard time adjusting to the new diet at first, so I was thankful for the variety of fresh fruits & yogurt available. I did finally get to indulge in the food & holy smokes- it was all that it was cracked up to be. Don’t forget to try the Vietnamese coffee- it’s soooo good!

Overall this hotel was a fantastic landing point for us to start and end our long days of traveling & exploring. We recommend that you book through booking.com to save money. We truly enjoyed our stay and look forward to traveling back to this hotel again!
