5 Reasons to Ski at Powder Mountain, Utah

Powder Mountain Resort is a beautiful ski resort in the Western USA. The locals and regulars really don’t want the secret out, and there’s no doubt in my mind why they want to keep it all for themselves. Unfortunately for them, though, I’m here to spill the tea and give you 5 reasons you should ski (or snowboard) at Powder Mountain, Utah.

Reason #1: Location, Location, Location

Powder Mountain (Pow Mow as the locals call it), has a great proximity to Salt Lake City. Salt Lake City is a major western hub which makes it a place that is easy to fly into. Powder Mountain is approximately an hour and a half from Salt Lake City, which is not uncommon for skiing out West.

Reason #2: The Mountain is not Overcrowded

Pow Mow only allows 1,500 daily ski passes & 3,000 season ski passes during the season. This means that you do not have to wait in long lines at lifts or be worried about overcrowded runs. This fact is one of the top reasons we love Pow Mow. We felt like we could really ski with our friends & enjoy our time on the mountain, rather than playing defense through dense crowds. This coupled with the fact that there is a plethora of runs, helps you feel like you have the mountain almost all to yourselves.

Reason #3: Runs for Everyone

With over 150 runs, Pow Mow has something for everyone. Whether you’re a newbie or an adventure-skier there is plenty for you to choose from! The groomed runs were enjoyed by all and the cat skiing was pretty awesome, too. Be mindful of the times because the earliest lifts close at 3:00, but there is night skiing available until 9:00 p.m.

Reason #4: Great for Traveling with Friends

Maybe you and your buddies do an annual ski trip, or maybe you are wanting to plan a vacation to catch up with all of your college friends- either way Powder Mountain is a great place for you to do this. Besides the fact that it is so uncrowded that you can really spend time with your friends, there’s not a big après ski scene, so you will likely congregate more in your cabin or lodging after a long day of skiing. This is perfect to relax and catch up. We recommend that you get lodging that includes a hot tub because your muscles will be sore and your body will be cold.

Reason #5: Incredible Views

Whether your skiing, boarding, snowshoeing, or sipping hot coco in your cabin, when you’re in the mountains you want to have a gorgeous view. The snow-covered mountains and trees took our breath away no matter what we were doing. It was incredibly picturesque and the perfect backdrop to some great photos. We will definitely be back to the beautiful Pow Mow to shred some gnar!
