The Girl’s Guide to a Weekend in Asheville, NC

So you want the perfect place for you and your girls to get together for a weekend of fun? If you were thinking Asheville, you have the right idea in mind! With breweries, vineyards, bars, and southern charm, this city has something for everybody in your friend group!

When you should go

I’m sure that Asheville is wonderful year-round, but you can’t beat going in the Fall. The leaves have changed to beautiful colors, and the cool mountain temperatures make all the walking and exploring you’ll do nice and comfortable! If you plan to go in the Fall, I recommend booking your accommodations a few months in advance. We found an Airbnb about 20 minutes from the city center because we booked it two weeks out. If you do this, don’t fret- Uber and Lyft pick up all around the city.

Breweries

We are a crew of beer-loving ladies, and Asheville had a plethora of breweries to choose from. Sierra Nevada is an obvious choice. Despite the great reviews of the brewery, we opted to not go there so that we could hit up more breweries that were in closer proximity to downtown. The first brewery we went to was New Belgium. The brews were great, and we enjoyed spending time on their huge patio. Next we headed to Wicked Weed where we had more brews and delicious grub. The next day, we went to Wedge Brewing and Highland Brewing. Each of these offered unique and fun experiences!

Wine

Because of Asheville’s location in the North Carolina mountains, grapes grow beautifully here making it a perfect place to make wine! One obvious venture would be the Biltmore House, but again we were trying to stay as close to downtown as possible so we opted to skip this tour. We headed downtown and searched for a wine bar. We happened upon Sante’ Wine Bar and Tap Room. This was a fun option because we could taste wine from all over the region, not solely one vineyard. It was also nice for the girls who preferred not to drink wine because they didn’t spend their day at a vineyard.

Night Life

Asheville is a great place with amazing food, breweries, wine, and bars! Whether you are looking for a chill bar to relax with friends, or an upbeat place to dance, Asheville has it all downtown! I can honestly say that we look forward to returning to Asheville and exploring even more of what the city has to offer.
