You may have heard that Singapore’s airport is world-renowned, but did you know why? In this post I’ll tell you the top 5 reasons you should visit Singapore’s Changi Airport.

Harry and I went to Singapore at the tail end of our incredible trip to Southeast Asia in Summer 2022. Not only were we super excited to see what Singapore had to offer as a city, but we were also incredibly excited to see what made their airport so special. We dropped our bags at a baggage let in the airport since we arrived so early for our flight after checking out of our hotel. I recommend you do this so you don’t have to lug around your heavy luggage if you have hours to spare. As I mentioned in a blog post about the top things to do in Singapore, if all airports were like Changi Airport you wouldn’t really need lounges in my opinion!

The Rain Vortex at The Jewel

This 40 meter waterfall is the largest indoor waterfall in the world! It emits an incredible visual and sound. If you are a nervous flier I guarantee that sitting and meditating here is sure to ease your nerves. It is located in the heart of The Jewel and falls an astounding seven stories. Head over to Terminal 1 to see this incredible installation.

The Water Lily Garden

Changi Airport is filled with beautiful gardens which makes you quickly forget that you’re in an airport at all. I’m telling you I would have been totally fine getting stuck here due to a delayed flight, just saying. The Water Lily Garden is a peaceful garden in terminal 1 that offers a relaxing place to walk around, reflect, and unwind as you await your plane ride.

The Slide @T3

Head to terminal 3 to take a trip down the largest slide in an airport. It’s available for both kids and adults. You must be a rewards member to partake in the slide, but if you sign up you can have 10 rides per member per day. The slide takes you from level 1 of the airport to basement 3. If you’re traveling with kids this seems like a great way to keep them entertained!

Enjoy a Nice Meal

There is a no shortage of food options & restaurant locations at Changi Airport. We enjoyed a nice dinner paired with a bottle of wine right next to the Rain Vortex at The Jewel. If you want a quieter place to sit, you’ll have no problem doing so. There is an extensive directory of dining options located here.

YOTELAIR for a Nap or Shower

One great amenity at the airport is the YOTELAIR short stay connected with terminals 1, 2, and 3. If you’ve traveled internationally before you may know that it can be difficult to find a place to rest or shower without actually checking into a hotel in town. The worst and grossest thing about long-haul flights is the greasiness you feel from a long day without a shower. While I have a basic skincare routine to help with this, nothing beats checking into a hotel for a a few hours or renting a shower before you leave. We opted to rent a shower here before our 30 hour trek back home to the U.S. and I’m so glad that we did!
