Where to Stay in Taormina, Sicily

The important question is to ask yourself, “Do I want to stay at the beach and visit the city?” OR “Do I want to stay in the city and visit the beach?” You can’t go wrong with either decision. I will give you tips for finding hotels and Airbnb options in both the city center and the beach near Isola Bella. The choice is yours! I’m going to start by telling you pros and cons of hotels versus Airbnb then share some recommendations with you.

Hotels

When looking for a hotel, I recommend that you check out Kayak.com for the BEST deals because it can search so many hotel databases. You can filter your search by date, amenities, location to the beach or the city center, and read hundreds of reviews. The benefit to hotels is they typically have staff onsite to help you with your day-to-day or minute-by-minute needs. There also tend to be many more reviews online for hotels than Airbnb. Definitely utilize the filtered options to ensure you get your most comfortable stay with the items you may take for granted at home, such as air conditioning.

Airbnb

Airbnb is a great option if a group of people want to stay in closer proximity to each other. We stayed at an Airbnb in walking distance of Isola Bella in the area of Taormina called Mazzaro. It was a fantastic option for our group trip. When booking an Airbnb, be sure to read the fine print about house rules, amount of guests allowed, and cancelation policies. Once again be sure to check that all of the amenities you want are available before you book. If it is your first time out of the country, I’d recommend that you filter by a Super Host because they tend to be (though not always the case) more attentive than other hosts.
