Welcome to Tucson, Arizona, where the sun is always shining, and the adventures are endless. With so much to see and do in this vibrant city, it’s hard to know where to start. That’s why I’ve put together the ultimate 24-hour itinerary to help you make the most of your time in Tucson. From outdoor adventures to delicious food, this guide has everything you need to create an unforgettable day in the Old Pueblo. So pack your sunscreen, grab your camera, and let’s explore Tucson in a day.

Where to Eat

Brunch

Get your morning started off right with a hearty breakfast at Prep and Pastry. Not only does this Arizona-based restaurant have a super cute vibe, but it also has amazing food! I recommend the Cast Iron Duck Confit, the Avo and Herb Toast, and a freshly made pastry. Top it down with a matcha latte and you are ready to start your day!

Aperitif

When you finish exploring for the day, but before you go to dinner, be sure to check out Borderland’s Brewing. This brewery has a huge location, so whether you want to sit indoors or outdoors, you’re are very likely to find a seat. My husband enjoyed a couple of their homebrewed blonde ales while I (being pregnant) opted for the nonalcoholic beer they carry. This is a great stop after a hot day of walking through the desert.

Dinner

You cannot go to Tucson without trying some great and authentic Mexican food. Check out Seis which is located in Mercado San Agustin. Mercado San Agustin is a very cool market with shopping and dining options. You will likely work up quite the appetite after your day of exploring, so we recommend that you indulge in all the yumminess Seis has to offer. Seis doesn’t have a liquor license, but there is a bar you can grab a drink from to enjoy with your food should you wish to do so.

What to Do & Explore

Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

After brunch drive to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. This museum exceeded our expectations tenfold. Beware that it is nearly all outside, so you’ll want to have a hat, sunscreen, and a water bottle. There are a ton of exhibits about the different animals, geology, and geography of the area. It takes about two hours to explore the entire museum. They do not offer teacher discounts, trust me I asked!

Saguaro National Park

Saguaro National Park was incredibly beautiful! Before you keep reading, you should know that it’s pronounced SUH-WAA-ROW. There are driving and hiking trails. We opted to drive, but if you choose to hike be sure to pay close attention to the safety guidelines presented by the National Park Service. Dry heat, like that found in this part of Arizona, is no joke and can become deadly. Listen to your body & enjoy the views of the gargantuan cacti.
