We had the pleasure of visiting Singapore in Summer 2022. Our trip to Southeast Asia was truly an incredible experience! We visited Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and Singapore. Singapore was unlike any other destination on our trip. Not only is it an incredible melting pot of Southeast Asian cultures, but it’s very much like a utopia. Everything is clean, futuristic, and stunning. In this blog post, you’ll learn the top things to do in Singapore.

Gardens by the Bay

Gardens by the Bay in Singapore is a home of three waterfront gardens which a plethora of activities from which to choose. Harry and I watched the light show our first night in the city. We also visited the Flower Dome, which won the Guinness World Record for the largest greenhouse in 2015.

The Light Show

The light show is truly incredible. It occurs each night and is a performance paired with classical music. This show can be enjoyed by all ages. You will be blown away at the massive and beautiful structures. This free show is one that can’t be missed when you visit Singapore! You can check out video of the light show on my Instagram within the Singapore highlight and see why this is a top thing to do in Singapore.

The Flower Dome

The Flower Dome is an experience that was really beautiful. It’s basically a big dome of botanical gardens, with flowers from all over the world. One of my favorite exhibits was the Holland area in which there were windmills, tulips, and bicycles displayed. We also did this at nighttime, but you could at any point of your day. The whole time I was walking around I thought it seemed like a very romantic place to be and would be the perfect place for a Singapore engagement proposal! You can purchase tickets for the experience here.

Marina Bay Sands

The Marina Bay Sands is one of the most famous buildings in the world and a true icon of Singapore. We were unable to stay here, but if you do book a stay at this hotel you’ll be able to go to their infinity pool overlooking the city. Don’t fret because there is plenty to do at Marina Bay Sands if you are a tourist not lodging there.

Marina Bay Sands Observation Deck

We visited the Marina Bay Sands Observation Deck on our second day. It was a really cool experience because we were able to walk around the deck and observe the city and even see ports of other countries! You can see many iconic buildings in Singapore from this view, as well as the beautiful infrastructure throughout the city. You can purchase tickets for the observation deck here.

Marina Bay Sands Shopping Mall & Casino

After we explored the observation deck we headed to the shopping mall & casino. Visiting the shopping mall took me back to the early 2000’s when I was in high school, and mall culture was a big thing as a social pastime. The shopping mall is filled with every store imaginable, from all price points. With that said, I have never seen so many designer stores in one mall! It was cool because the mall is basically set up with stores clustered in different price points, making your shopping journey easy. There are also many restaurants inside. We took a trip to the casino, too. Bring your passport for check-in at the casino! The buy-in for the tables was pretty high, so be prepared to spend some money to play.

Singapore F1 Grand Prix Street Circuit

If you’re a Formula 1 fan like Harry and I (Go McLaren) then you have to visit the Singapore F1 Grand Prix Street Circuit. This can be accessed easily by foot or bike. You can walk along to see the track, start line, and more! The experience was really cool & maybe one day we’ll actually get to go back for a race.

Changi Chapel & Museum

The Changi Chapel & Museum is a WWII museum that history buffs will love. It was important for us on a personal level to visit because Harry’s grandfather was a Prisoner of War in Singapore during World War II. His mom even wrote a book about her dad’s experience. The museum was inexpensive to visit, but highly informative. We were able to take a guided tour by a robot named Temi who taught us about what life was like during WWII before the Japanese took control of Singapore, what the POWs experienced, and life after the liberation. Unlike some museums, you will not need to spend an entire day here, one to two hours would be fine.

Raffles Hotel

The Raffles Hotel is another iconic hotel in Singapore. Noted for its beautiful appearance and famous bar, you should either lodge here or stop in for a visit during your trip to Singapore. We stopped in after our flight to grab the famous Singapore Sling drink before exploring the city of Singapore. The drink was pricey, but we’d say it’s worth it to go!

Changi Airport

The Changi Airport is one of the most incredible airports in the whole world. If all airports were this cool, I’d argue there’d not be much of a need for airport lounges. Home to the famous Jewel located at Terminal 1, you’ll be amazed at the world’s tallest indoor waterfall that stretches 40 meters. I can assure you that your airport nerves will be kicked by the relaxing view and sounds of this attraction.
